Boston youth soccer players escorting World Cup athletes onto the pitch

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Twenty-two local youth soccer players are preparing for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to escort World Cup athletes from England and Ghana onto the pitch in Foxborough, Massachusetts, for Tuesday’s match.

Logan Marshall, one of the player escorts, shared his excitement about the English team.

"I know most of them," Marshall said. "They're gonna win the World Cup or have a pretty good chance."

The group spent the morning getting their uniforms ready for the big moment. Francois Dominique, another player escort, expressed his enthusiasm for the role.

"Whatever team I'm with, I'm gonna be their lucky charm," Dominique said.

The event holds special significance for the Haitian community in Boston, Dominique noted.

"The city has come around for the Haitian community, our community, and for Francois, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," Dominique said.

Marshall also reflected on the importance of the experience.

"It'll be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity walking out with the players that he will always remember," Marshall said.

As the group boarded the bus to Foxboro and Boston Stadium, the excitement was palpable.
